To compare using pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) combined with a scleral buckle versus primary vitrectomy alone in patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment at high risk for postoperative proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR). ⋯ For patients at high risk for PVR, PPV-scleral buckle was associated with significantly higher rates of anatomical success compared with PPV alone.

To investigate the incidence and risk factors for central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) in adults who use oral corticosteroids in Taiwan. ⋯ Male gender, middle age, and current use of oral corticosteroids were found to be the risk factors for CSCR. However, oral corticosteroids dosage and treatment duration were not associated with the CSCR risk.

To report the use of bevacizumab in patients with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease and persistent serous retinal detachment during the systemic steroid treatment. ⋯ Intravitreal injection of bevacizumab during the corticosteroid therapy may be a treatment option for patients with decreased visual function because of persistent serous retinal detachment associated with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome.

To describe the characteristics of nail gun-related open-globe injuries. ⋯ This is the largest compilation of nail gun-related open-globe injury reported to date. Posterior segment complications, noted in the majority of cases, likely contributed to the overall guarded visual outcomes. Preventative measures for eye protection should be strictly followed while using nail guns.
