The study aimed to investigate whether there is a difference in the amount of adenosine per kilogram (mg/kg) between the patient groups that can and cannot be converted to sinus rhythm (SR) with adenosine therapy in patients with supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). ⋯ This study suggest that the success of terminating SVT with the first 6 mg dose of adenosine appears to be dependent on patient weight. In patients given larger doses of adenosine, determinants of PSVT termination success may be factors other than patient weight.

Prognostic value of cardiac troponin in elderly patients with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia: A multicenter study.
An elevated level of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) frequently accompanies an episode of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). However, the predictive value of cTnI in elderly SVT patients has not been examined. ⋯ An increased cardiac troponin level may not effectively indicate the risk of MACE in elderly SVT patients. Physicians might want to be cautious when interpreting troponin test results for this specific patient group.

To evaluate the epidemiology of concussions in pediatric baseball and softball players. We hypothesized that head-to-ball injuries would be the most common cause of concussions. ⋯ The incidence of concussions in pediatric baseball and softball athletes has been decreasing non-significantly over our 10-year study period. The most common mechanism of concussions in our study was head-to-ball injuries.
