[Tibial defects and infected non-unions : Treatment results after Masquelet technique].
The treatment of non-unions with large bone defects or osteitis is a major challenge in orthopedic and trauma surgery. A new concept of therapy is a two-step procedure: Masquelet technique according to the diamond concept. ⋯ The two-step bone grafting method in the Masquelet technique used for tibia non-unions according to the diamond concept is a promising treatment option. Its application for tibia shaft non-unions with large bone defects or infections means a high degree of safety for the patient.

Arterial complications following total knee arthroplasty are rare but carry a high risk of significant morbidity and mortality. Herein, the authors report a case of pseudoaneurysm in a branch of a high-division anterior tibial artery caused by laceration by the retractor following primary total knee arthroplasty in a 72-year-old woman. ⋯ The diagnosis was confirmed by arteriography and the patient was successfully treated using endovascular embolization without long-term complications. Because of the high risk of progression to a potentially limb- or life-threatening condition, it is important to discuss the risk factors for this complication, as well as its early diagnosis and treatment methods.

[Arthroscopic tenodesis or tenotomy of the long head of the biceps tendon in preselected patients : Does it make a difference?]
Are there clinical, cosmetic and/or structural differences between tenotomy and tenodesis of the long head of the biceps tendon (LHB) in patients selected according to commonly used indication criteria? ⋯ In patients preselected according to routinely used indication parameters (e.g. age, BMI and functional requirements of the shoulder) both LHB-TD and LHB-TT can achieve good to very good functional and cosmetic results with high patient satisfaction.
