Compare invasive blood pressure (IBP) and noninvasive blood pressure (NIBP) measurement methods in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) across various gestational age and postmenstrual age (PMA), and determine the effect of gestational age and PMA on accuracy of NIBP measurements. ⋯ NIBP measurements overestimate IBP measurements particularly in smaller, sicker infants at lower IBP measurements.

This study aims to identify the incidence, risk factors, and outcomes of late-onset sepsis in preterm neonates in Canadian neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). ⋯ Bacterial late-onset sepsis in very preterm neonates was associated with mortality and BPD. Neonates with gram-negative sepsis had the highest risk of adverse outcomes as compared with gram-positive sepsis or no sepsis.

Head Position Change Is Not Associated with Acute Changes in Bilateral Cerebral Oxygenation in Stable Preterm Infants during the First 3 Days of Life.
Several recent intraventricular hemorrhage prevention bundles include midline head positioning to prevent potential disturbances in cerebral hemodynamics. We aimed to study the impact of head position change on regional cerebral saturations (SctO2) in preterm infants (< 30 weeks gestational age) during the first 3 days of life. ⋯ Stable preterm infants tolerated brief changes in head position from midline without significant alternation in bilateral SctO2; the impact on critically ill infants needs further evaluation.
