Transuretral resection of the bladder (TURB): analysis of complications using a modified Clavien system in an Italian real life cohort.
To evaluate the applicability of a modified Clavien classification system (CCS) in grading postoperative complications of transurethral resection of bladder tumours (TURB). ⋯ A modified CCS can be used as a standardized tool to objectively define the complications of TURB which confirms to be a safe procedure with a low surgical morbidity. This tool can be used to aid in patient counselling and to facilitate scientific assessment.

The purpose of this study was to report on the first experiences with freehand single-photon emission-computed tomography (freehand SPECT) in sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) in patients with malignant melanoma. Freehand SPECT is a novel imaging modality combining gamma probes, surgical navigation systems, and emission tomography algorithms, designed to overcome some of the limitations of conventional gamma probes. ⋯ Freehand SPECT provides a real-time, intraoperative 3D-image of the radioactive labelled SLNs, facilitating their detection and resection.

To evaluate morbidity, oncologic results and functional outcome in patients with malignant tumors of pelvis treated with limb sparing resection. ⋯ Though complex and challenging, limb sparing surgery in non metastatic malignant tumors is oncologically safe and has better functional outcomes than after an amputation surgery.
