Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) and cytoreductive surgery (CRS) in ovarian cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Emerging evidence suggests that hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) with cytoreductive surgery (CRS) shows a survival benefit over CRS alone for patients with epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC). This systematic review and meta-analysis will assess the safety and efficacy of HIPEC with CRS for EOC. ⋯ The addition of HIPEC to CRS and chemotherapy improves overall survival rates for both primary and recurrent EOC.

Pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (PXA) is a rare, low-grade glioma that frequently occurs in pediatric patients. ⋯ PXA in adults PXA may present features distinct from pediatric PXA. Anaplastic features and BRAF mutation may potentially identify specific subgroups with distinct prognoses.

Effect of adjuvant chemotherapy on recurrence-free survival varies by neo-adjuvant treatment in patients with stage III rectal cancer.
Adjuvant chemotherapy still is a controversial therapy for rectal cancer patients. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of adjuvant chemotherapy on recurrence-free survival (RFS) for patients with stage III rectal cancer treated in clinical practice, taking into account which neo-adjuvant treatment patients received. ⋯ Among patients with stage III rectal cancer, the effect of adjuvant chemotherapy on RFS seems to vary by neo-adjuvant treatment.

French current management and oncological results of locally recurrent rectal cancer.
There is a significant worldwide variation in practice regarding the criteria for operative intervention and overall management in patients with locally recurrent rectal cancer (LRRC). A survival benefit has been described for patients with clear resection margins in patients undergoing surgery for LRRC which is seen as an important surgical quality indicator. ⋯ Our data is in accordance with the literature except the rate of extended resection procedures. This underlines the selective character of operative indications for LRRC in France as well as the care variability and the absence of optimal clinical pathway regarding these patients.
