To develop a novel diffusion imaging reconstruction framework based on iterative self-consistent parallel imaging reconstruction (SPIRiT) for multishot interleaved echo planar imaging (iEPI), with computation acceleration by virtual coil compression. ⋯ The SPIRiT-based reconstruction with virtual coil compression is a reliable method for high-resolution iEPI diffusion imaging. To develop a 3D whole-heart Bright-blood and black-blOOd phase SensiTive (BOOST) inversion recovery sequence for simultaneous noncontrast enhanced coronary lumen and thrombus/hemorrhage visualization. ⋯ A new PSIR sequence for noncontrast enhanced simultaneous coronary lumen and thrombus/hemorrhage detection was developed. The sequence provided improved coronary lumen depiction and showed potential for thrombus visualization. Variable flip angle (VFA) imaging is widely used for whole-brain T1 quantification. Because of the requirement to acquire at least two sets of MR images at different flip angles, VFA relaxometry is relatively slow. Here, whole-brain VFA T1 mapping at 1.5 T is accelerated by using efficient spiral non-Cartesian imaging METHODS: To quantify T1 in the human brain, radiofrequency spoiled gradient-echo imaging is performed at two optimized flip angles using an interleaved 2D multislice sequence with high spoiling efficiency. The acquisitions are accelerated by using a spiral trajectory with 10 interleaves combined with a dedicated magnetization preparation to ensure steady-state conditions in minimal time. ⋯ Due to the use of a fast spiral k-space trajectory, whole-brain VFA T1 mapping could be accelerated by an order of magnitude compared to conventional Cartesian sampling. In vivo carbon-13 (13 C) MR spectroscopy (MRS) is capable of measuring energy metabolism and neuroenergetics, noninvasively in the brain. Indirect (1 H-[13 C]) MRS provides sensitivity benefits compared with direct 13 C methods, and normally includes a 1 H surface coil for both localization and signal reception. The aim was to develop a coil platform with homogenous B1+ and use short conventional pulses for short echo time proton observed carbon edited (POCE) MRS. ⋯ A convenient and sensitive platform to study energy metabolism and neurotransmitter cycling is presented. To evaluate proton density fat fraction (PDFF) and R2* as markers of bone marrow composition and structure in inflamed bone in patients with spondyloarthritis. ⋯ PDFF measurements reflect changes in marrow composition in areas of active inflammation and structural damage and could be used for disease monitoring in spondyloarthritis. R2* measurements may provide additional information bone mineral density but also are influenced by fat content.
