Hair Today, OR Tomorrow: A Multicenter Case Series of Gastric Bezoars in Children Diagnosed With Point-of-Care Ultrasound.
Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) can expedite the diagnosis of pediatric abdominal pathologies including appendicitis and intussusception. In this patient series, we present cases from multiple pediatric emergency departments that demonstrate the use of POCUS in the diagnosis of trichobezoars in children. POCUS findings include the presence of an intragastric hyperechoic mass or a hyperechoic arch and associated posterior acoustic shadowing. These findings in the appropriate clinical context should prompt further diagnostic imaging and/or surgical consultation for removal.

Risk of Urinary Tract Infection and Bacteremia in Infants Infected With COVID-19.
Our objective was to evaluate the risk of urinary tract infection (UTI) and bacteremia in infants 1 year or less of age infected with COVID-19. ⋯ Infants with fever found to have COVID-19 had lower risks of UTI and bacteremia.

Point-of-Care Ultrasound Diagnosis of Early Pyomyositis in a Pediatric Patient: A Case Report.
Skin and soft tissue infections are common in the pediatric emergency department. Because pyomyositis occurs deep to the fascial plane, it is often difficult to appreciate on physical examination. ⋯ This case report describes a child who presented to the pediatric emergency department with leg pain and redness, initially concerning for an abscess based on clinical findings. Point-of-care ultrasound diagnosed early pyomyositis, prompting early involvement of the pediatric surgical service and urgent computed tomography imaging, which confirmed the diagnosis.

Characterizing Point-of-Care Ultrasound Credentialing in Pediatric Emergency Departments.
It is unclear which pediatric emergency departments (PEDs) have a point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) credentialing process or if this process is consistent per expert guidelines. Our objective was to describe formalized POCUS credentialing processes across PEDs that are active in the pediatric emergency medicine POCUS (P2) Network. ⋯ Among PEDs surveyed, there was a lack of standardization of POCUS resources and components of credentialing. Incentives may be beneficial in improving credentialing faculty and standardizing the credentialing process.

Multicenter Study Observational StudySerial Trauma Abdominal Ultrasound in Children (STAUNCH): A Pilot Study.
Ultrasound has established utility within pediatric emergency medicine and has an added benefit of avoiding excessive radiation exposure. The serial focused assessment with sonography in trauma (sFAST) examination is a potential alternative to improve pediatric trauma evaluation. We sought to evaluate the accuracy of sFAST in pediatric patients with blunt abdominal trauma. ⋯ This pilot study found that sFAST can enhance blunt trauma evaluation and improve sensitivity and diagnostic accuracy. More data are needed to determine how sFAST can be utilized in pediatric patients with blunt abdominal trauma.
