Prelicensure nursing students' perspectives on video-assisted debriefing following high fidelity simulation: A qualitative study.
Video-assisted debriefing has not attracted sufficient attention on exploring learners' perceptions. A full understanding of learners' attitudes and perceptions towards video-assisted debriefing sets the foundation for effective learning, which should be considered when integrating video-assisted debriefing to the nursing curricula. However, limited evidence on learners' perspectives makes it difficult to fully understand this phenomenon. ⋯ Nursing students revealed that video-assisted debriefing not only complemented the drawback of verbal debriefing by offering objective evidence but also improved their attitudes and behaviors through the unique experience of an emotional roller coaster. Learners should be desensitized to the fear of video and their discriminating capabilities should be developed prior to video-assisted debriefing. The findings can serve as a reference when designing and integrating video-assisted debriefing interventions into simulation-based education.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of a game-based virtual reality phone application on tracheostomy care education for nursing students: A randomized controlled trial.
A game-based virtual reality phone application is used as a simulation to teach psychomotor skills in nursing education. ⋯ The game-based virtual reality phone application was effective in teaching the skill of suctioning a tracheostomy tube for nursing students in the short term, and it is recommended that this application be used in psychomotor skill training.

Learning procedural skills with a virtual reality simulator: An acceptability study.
Virtual Reality (VR) simulation has recently been developed and has improved surgical training. Most VR simulators focus on learning technical skills and few on procedural skills. Studies that evaluated VR simulators focused on feasibility, reliability or easiness of use, but few of them used a specific acceptability measurement tool. ⋯ This VR simulator designed to teach surgical procedures can be widely used as a tool in initial or vocational training.

Case ReportsEffect of case study versus video simulation on nursing students' satisfaction, self-confidence, and knowledge: A quasi-experimental study.
Research on simulation in nursing education has demonstrated the positive impact active, experiential learning has on student satisfaction, self-confidence, and knowledge. As a result, simulation laboratories with high-fidelity human patient simulators have become a common adjunct to clinical teaching. It is important to also promote active learning in the classroom setting; however, there is limited evidence on using video simulations in large classrooms. ⋯ Results suggest the use of video simulation in the classroom may deepen students' understanding of classroom content and provide an additional mode for learning to enhance classroom lecture. Use of video simulation to augment classroom teaching is suggested as a strategy for engaging learners.

New Zealand nursing students' perceptions of biosciences: A cross-sectional survey of relevance to practice, teaching delivery, self-competence and challenges.
Bioscience subjects are one of the most discussed nursing curricula contents in terms of the longed known teaching and learning challenges for nursing students. Recent studies examined the specific use of technology as teaching strategies. However, there are still significant gaps around nursing students' perception of biosciences within nursing education and the significance of teaching delivery methods to these perceptions. ⋯ Positive perceptions of bioscience become more evident when nursing students reach their final year in the nursing programme. The contemporary profile (age) of students studying nursing are sensitive to their preferred teaching delivery. A fully online teaching approach to biosciences for nursing students will most likely require a robust approach and careful decision making for implementation.
