Physician burnout is often assessed by healthcare organizations. Yet, scores from different burnout measures cannot currently be directly compared, limiting the interpretation of results across organizations or studies. ⋯ Our findings allow healthcare organizations using the PFI or MZSIB to compare group-level scores to historical, regional, or national MBI scores (and vice-versa).

Administrative data algorithms (ADAs) to identify pneumonia cases are commonly used in the analysis of pneumonia burden, trends, etiology, processes of care, outcomes, health care utilization, cost, and response to preventative and therapeutic interventions. However, without a good understanding of the validity of ADAs for pneumonia case identification, an adequate appreciation of this literature is difficult. We systematically reviewed the quality and accuracy of published ADAs to identify adult hospitalized pneumonia cases. ⋯ ADAs for identification of adult pneumonia hospitalizations are highly heterogeneous, poorly validated, and at risk for misclassification bias. Greater standardization in reporting ADA accuracy is required in studies using pneumonia ADA for case identification so that results can be properly interpreted.

Post-Discharge Health Status and Symptoms in Patients with Severe COVID-19.
Little is known about long-term recovery from severe COVID-19 disease. Here, we characterize overall health, physical health, and mental health of patients 1 month after discharge for severe COVID-19. ⋯ Patients with severe COVID-19 disease typically experience sequelae affecting their respiratory status, physical health, and mental health for at least several weeks after hospital discharge.

Through experiences with hospital visitor restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, a group of frontline trainees at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) uncovered patient stories highlighting the unique challenges that patients with limited English proficiency (LEP) face in the hospital, particularly their vulnerability to social isolation. Here, we recount patient stories illustrative of this isolation, generated by insufficient professional interpreter use, ad hoc interpretation, and scarcity of media in preferred languages. ⋯ Motivated by the findings of this project, we advocate for other institutions to take similar action, such as hiring inpatient telehealth navigators and providing tablets for ad lib use. Enacting these changes will keep patients with LEP connected to their families and communities while in the hospital, an essential step towards establishing an equitable experience for patients with LEP.
