Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyWeb-based tailored psycho-education for breast cancer patients at the onset of the survivorship phase: a multicenter randomized controlled trial.
Many breast cancer patients have unmet informational and psychosocial needs after treatment completion. A psychoeducational intervention may be well suited to support these patients. ⋯ Although the effectiveness was not demonstrated, a subgroup of women treated for breast cancer can probably be supported by the program. The results of the present study are a starting point for further development and use of the program.

Multicenter StudyEvaluation of a video-based seminar to raise healthcare professionals' awareness of culturally sensitive end-of-life care.
Health care workers serve diverse communities and face challenges in delivering culturally responsive EOL care, especially when caring for Latino elders. ⋯ The telenovela was effective in increasing health care workers' awareness of caregivers stress and cultural approach to EOL decisions. There is need for ongoing efforts to educate HCPs on cultural sensitivity to help ethnically diverse caregivers and their patients benefit from EOL care.

Multicenter StudyRelationship between spirituality, meaning in life, psychological distress, wish for hastened death, and their influence on quality of life in palliative care patients.
Spiritual, existential, and psychological issues represent central components of quality of life (QOL) in palliative care. A better understanding of the dynamic nature underlying these components is essential for the development of interventions tailored to the palliative context. ⋯ Both spiritual well-being and meaning in life appear to be potential protective factors against psychological distress at the end of life. Since nonphysical determinants play a major role in shaping QOL at the end of life, there is a need for the development of meaning-oriented and spiritual care interventions tailored to the fragility of palliative patients.

Multicenter StudyAttachment insecurity in advanced cancer patients: psychometric properties of the German version of the Brief Experiences in Close Relationships Scale (ECR-M16-G).
Attachment insecurity refers to difficulty in trusting and relying on others in times of need. Its underlying factors attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance have been empirically associated with impaired coping in advanced cancer and, therefore, should be considered in individually tailored medical and psychosocial treatment. ⋯ The ECR-M16-G is a valid and reliable measure of attachment insecurity in patients with advanced cancer and can be recommended as a tool for clinical care and further research.

Multicenter StudySpecialty Palliative Care Consultations for Nursing Home Residents with Dementia.
U.S. nursing home (NH) residents with dementia have limited access to specialty palliative care beyond Medicare hospice. ⋯ Consultations appear to reduce acute care use and (potentially) burdensome transitions for dying residents with dementia. Reductions were greater when consultations were earlier.
