Review Meta Analysis Comparative Study
Abiraterone acetate/androgen deprivation therapy combination versus docetaxel/androgen deprivation therapy combination in advanced hormone-sensitive prostate cancer: a network meta-analysis on safety and efficacy.
A major, yet precisely studied, shift has occurred in the treatment of advanced hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (HSPC) by the addition of docetaxel to androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) in the first line. Recently, two landmark trials showed that abiraterone acetate (AA) can be an effective alternative along with ADT in the same setting. We implemented a network meta-analysis to compare the safety and efficacy of the two combinations. ⋯ Patients with metastatic HSPC (mHSPC) who received abiraterone acetate with ADT had better PFS and less toxicity compared to those receiving docetaxel with ADT. A trend towards superior OS and fewer treatment-related deaths was also observed, but was statistically non-significant. In view of lacking clear OS advantage, the choice between docetaxel and AA should include a discussion with the patient about the potential toxicities and impact on quality of life of each regimen.

Tyrosine kinase inhibitors for advanced or metastatic thyroid cancer: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Radioiodine-refractory advanced or metastatic thyroid cancer has poor prognosis. We conducted a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) for advanced or metastatic thyroid cancer treatment. ⋯ TKIs significantly improved PFS and RR in patients with advanced or metastatic DTC or MTC. We recommend thoroughly evaluating patients' health status and cautiously using TKIs to maximize their benefits and minimize their toxicity.

Observational studies can provide evidence about patient outcomes in routine clinical practice. This prospective, non-interventional study (BELIEVE) is the largest real-world European study to date to assess quality-of-life, treatment satisfaction, resource utilization, and persistence in patients with overactive bladder (OAB) who were prescribed mirabegron as part of routine clinical practice. ⋯ Patients receiving mirabegron in a real-world setting reported meaningful improvements in QoL and health status, with a persistence rate of 53.8% at 12 months for the FAS. No unexpected safety issues were observed, and AEs were consistent with the known safety profile of mirabegron.

The outcomes of thyroid cancer patients using levothyroxine are largely undetermined. ⋯ Our population-based cohort study showed that thyroid cancer patients receiving levothyroxine have a higher risk of osteoporosis.

We aimed to evaluate the prognostic significance of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), neutrophil-platelet score (NPS) and prognostic nutritional index (PNI) as proinflammatory markers in metastatic pancreas cancer (MPC). ⋯ Basal high NLR (>3), advanced age (>60 years), poor ECOG-PS (>2) and cholestasis were independent poor prognostic factors in MPC. However, PNI, NPS and PLR had no prognostic significance (p = .51, p = .86 and p = .062, respectively).
