A chronic pain patient sample living in the United States who participated in a cross-sectional study to evaluate the validity and reproducibility of the Prescription Opioid Misuse and Abuse Questionnaire is characterized. ⋯ Participants' health status was poor; pain severity and interference were moderate. Electronic medical record data revealed high healthcare resource utilization. This chronic pain population was severely impacted by their pain condition(s).

Phenylketonuria (PKU) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by a deficiency of phenylalanine hydroxylase (PAH). Its prevalence is estimated to be 1:10,000 in Europe. PKU is the commonest congenital inborn error of metabolism. The aim of our study was to investigate the characteristics of clinical practice in relation to PKU in Italy, in order to raise awareness about the current management and therapeutic approaches adopted. ⋯ Supplemental data for this article is available online at https://doi.org/10.1080/03007995.2020.1847717.

The Prescription Opioid Misuse and Abuse Questionnaire was developed to identify prescription opioid abuse and misuse among patients with chronic pain, however, evidence of construct validity and reproducibility is needed. ⋯ Results suggest that the Prescription Opioid Misuse and Abuse Questionnaire is a valid and reproducible tool that can be used to assess the presence of prescription opioid misuse and abuse among patients with chronic pain.

To analyze the temporal trends of atrial fibrillation (AF)-related ischemic stroke (IS) and their relationship with the prescription patterns of antithrombotic treatment from 2013 to 2019 in the Health Assistance Area of a regional hospital. ⋯ The prescription of oral anticoagulants, particularly direct oral anticoagulants, has increased from 2013 to 2019 in our Health Assistance Area. This increase might partially explain the reduction in AF-related IS.
