The relationship between diabetes and heart failure is complex and bidirectional. Nevertheless, the existence of a cardiomyopathy attributable exclusively to diabetes has been and is still the subject of controversy, due, among other reasons, to a lack of a consensus definition. ⋯ Similarly, new treatments have been shown to play a potential role in this disease. The following review provides an update on diabetic cardiomyopathy.

ReviewHBV infection is a risk factor for chronic kidney disease: Systematic review and meta-analysis.
The activity of hepatitis B virus (HBV) as a risk factor for the incidence and progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) has not been clarified. ⋯ It appears that exposure to HBV infection seems to be associated with an increased risk of developing CKD in the adult general population. Studies aimed to understand the mechanisms responsible of such association are under way.
