Anaesthetic management of a patient with Williams syndrome undergoing aortoplasty for supravalvular aortic stenosis.
A case of a patient associated with Williams syndrome undergoing aortoplasty for supravalvular aortic stenosis is presented. ⋯ Multiplane TEE was found to be very useful for anaesthetic management in a patient with Williams syndrome undergoing aortoplasty for supravalvular aortic stenosis.

In the presence of carbon dioxide absorbents, sevoflurane is degraded to CF2 = C(CF3)OCH2F, an olefin compound A. There remains some concern of the hepatic and renal toxicity that compound A poses when using low-flow anaesthetic techniques. We investigated a device to decrease the concentration of compound A products by decreasing the temperature of exhaled air and soda lime in semi-closed low-flow anaesthesia technique in surgical patients. ⋯ Compound A concentrations were reduced by cooling the anaesthetic circuit in clinical settings.

Perioperative antinociceptive effects of tramadol. A prospective, randomized, double-blind comparison with morphine.
To compare the efficacy of tramadol and morphine for intra- and postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. ⋯ There was no difference between the use of tramadol and morphine to treat pain after laparoscopic cholecystectomy from 90 min after the end of surgery. Morphine was more effective than tramadol as an intraoperative analgesic.

The effectiveness of clonidine as an analgesic in paediatric adenotonsillectomy.
To compare the analgesic effects of preoperative oral clonidine with intraoperative intravenous fentanyl in children undergoing tonsillectomy or adenotonsillectomy. ⋯ Oral clonidine is an effective analgesic and sedative for children undergoing tonsillectomy or adenotonsillectomy.
