Windows in the ICU and Postoperative Delirium: A Retrospective Cohort Study.
The ICU built environment-including the presence of windows-has long been thought to play a role in delirium. This study investigated the association between the presence or absence of windows in patient rooms and ICU delirium. ⋯ The current study provides insightful information regarding associations between a component of the ICU built environment, specifically the presence or absence of windows, and the frequency of delirium.

To provide a narrative review of disordered lymphatic dynamics and its impact on critical care relevant condition management. ⋯ Critical care clinicians ideally demonstrate functional knowledge of conditions that are directly related to, or are accompanied by, deranged lymphatic dynamics to direct timely diagnostic and therapeutic interventions during a patient's ICU care episode.

Randomized clinical trials informing clinical practice (e.g., like large, pragmatic, and late-phase trials) should ideally mostly use harmonized outcomes that are important to patients, family members, clinicians, and researchers. Core outcome sets for specific subsets of ICU patients exist, for example, respiratory failure, delirium, and COVID-19, but not for ICU patients in general. Accordingly, we aimed to develop a core outcome set for adult general ICU patients. ⋯ We developed and internationally validated a core outcome set with six core outcomes to be used in research, specifically clinical trials involving adult general ICU patients.

An International Factorial Vignette-Based Survey of Intubation Decisions in Acute Hypoxemic Respiratory Failure.
Intubation is a common procedure in acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (AHRF), with minimal evidence to guide decision-making. We conducted a survey of when to intubate patients with AHRF to measure the influence of clinical variables on intubation decision-making and quantify variability. ⋯ In this international, multiprofessional survey of 2294 clinicians, intubation for patients with AHRF was mostly decided based on oxygenation, breathing pattern, and consciousness, but there was important variation across individuals and countries.
