Factors associated with pressure ulcers in adults in acute care hospitals.
To identify and describe the relationship of factors associated with pressure ulcers in adults in acute care hospitals. ⋯ This study enhances the knowledge of the relationship of factors associated with pressure ulcers in adults in acute care populations and enhances the use and relative importance of particular Braden Scale subscales.

During life-changing events, people turn to spirituality for comfort, hope, and relief. This article raises nurses' awareness of and intent to provide spiritual care for children and families as part of overall quality care. Essential nursing knowledge for the development of a plan of care that includes the child's spirituality, religion, and culture, developmental stage, age-appropriate spiritual care activities, and the needs of the family are presented.

Multicenter StudyCompassionate clinicians: take patient care beyond the ordinary.
This study sought to identify specific actions, interventions, and interpersonal relationships with patients exhibited by a group of compassionate healthcare clinicians. Researchers interviewed 24 hospital clinicians who were identified by administrators as being exemplary in caring and compassion. ⋯ Participating clinicians did not appear to sacrifice objectivity in practicing compassionate care, but were able to integrate the mind and heart in their work. Based on the qualitative analyses, researchers developed a preliminary model of affective clinician/patient interactions.
