Compassion energy is the converse of compassion fatigue. Nurses will grow and thrive if they understand how to self-generate vigor as compassion energy, preventing compassion fatigue or burnout. The compassion energy experience can elicit implications for nursing practice to add to the caring process.

An investigation of nurses' and midwives' academic/clinical workplaces: a healing model to improve and sustain hope, optimism, and resilience in professional practice.
This article reveals the findings from a recent international ethnographic research project on nurses' and midwives' resilience, hope, and optimism in their workplace. The research found that the need for resilience was critical to one's healing in the workplace. An innovative model to respond strategically to the workplace is revealed.

ReviewAddressing cultural heterogeneity among Hispanic subgroups by using Campinha-Bacote's model of cultural competency.
Campinha-Bacote's model "The Process of Cultural Competence in Delivery of Health Care Services" is used to describe Hispanic cultural heterogeneity and to guide nurses in providing culturally competent and sensitive holistic care to individuals from different Hispanic subgroups. But for nurses to do so, healthcare organizations also must make the appropriate resources and structural supports available to them.
