Large-diameter, monoblock acetabular components have been used for both hip resurfacing arthroplasty and metal-on-metal (MoM) total hip arthroplasty (THA). If revision is required, one solution is to retain the shell and use a dual-mobility bearing. ⋯ Retention of a well-fixed, monoblock MoM acetabular shell and mating it to a dual-mobility bearing in the setting of revision surgery seems to be a reasonable, low-morbidity option at short-term follow-up in appropriately positioned cups.

Range of motion (ROM) is important for functional outcome after total knee arthroplasty (TKA); however, some patients hesitate to maximize their ROM postoperatively. The Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK) measures patients' fear of movement. The primary purpose of this investigation was to determine whether TSK scores correlated with decreased ROM after primary TKA. A secondary purpose was to determine whether biofeedback could increase ROM after TKA. ⋯ The TSK was developed as a tool to identify patients at risk for maladaptive responses to painful stimuli. Our data suggest that the TSK may help arthroplasty surgeons identify patients at risk for decreased ROM after TKA. Showing patients a clinical photograph failed to increase ROM after TKA.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Local Infiltration Analgesia Versus Continuous Femoral Nerve Block in Pain Relief After Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Although both local infiltration analgesia (LIA) and continuous femoral nerve block (FNB) are common analgesic modalities for pain relief after total knee arthroplasty (TKA), we are aware of no parallel-group, randomized controlled trial that has solely compared the efficacy of LIA and continuous FNB. ⋯ LIA was associated with better pain relief with a comparable complications rate for patients undergoing TKA than FNB. We recommend LIA for pain relief after TKA.
