Children today are exposed to various media devices, and their usage of these is increasing. Prior studies have outlined forms of harm this can potentially cause. However, there has been little empirical research on the use of media devices among preschool children in Asia. The aim of this study was to examine and analyze longitudinal trends in media device use among Korean preschool children, focusing on the frequency of engagement, time spent with, and ownership of media devices, delineated by sex. ⋯ This study observed an increase in the tendency of media device use among preschool children in Korea. The patterns of use indicate that paying attention to the types of devices children use is needed, as well as vigilance on weekends.

Multicenter StudyDurability of Sustained Virologic Response and Improvement of Fibrosis Markers after Daclatasvir and Asunaprevir Treatment in Genotype 1b Hepatitis C Virus-Infected Patients: a Real Life and Multicenter Study.
The long-term data with direct acting antiviral agents were rare. This study investigated the durability of a sustained virologic response (SVR) and the improvement of fibrosis after daclatasvir and asunaprevir (DCV/ASV) treatment in genotype 1b (GT1b) hepatitis C virus (HCV)-infected patients. ⋯ DCV/ASV treatment for HCV GT1b infected patients without RAS achieved high SVR rates and showed durable SVR. Cirrhotic patients who achieved SVR12 showed the improvement of liver function and fibrosis markers.

The Association between the Apolipoprotein E Gene Polymorphism and All-cause Mortality in the Korean Population.
Apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene polymorphism is associated with neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases. Although the effects of the gene differ by ethnic group, few studies have examined Asians. Therefore, the association between APOE polymorphism and mortality in Koreans was evaluated in this study. ⋯ In two large population-based cohort studies, the E2 allele was associated with a lower risk of mortality compared with the E3 allele, whereas the E4 genotype was not associated with mortality in Koreans.

Good Agreement between an Interferon Gamma Release Assay and Tuberculin Skin Tests in Testing for Latent Tuberculosis Infection among HIV-Infected Patients in Indonesia.
Latent tuberculosis infection is a condition where there is a persistent immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis without clinical manifestations of tuberculosis. Currently, there is no gold standard to diagnose latent tuberculosis infection. The tuberculin skin test and interferon-gamma release assay are currently used to diagnose latent tuberculosis infection. However, studies have shown inconsistencies regarding the level of agreement between these tests in different settings. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the agreement between these two tests for diagnosing latent tuberculosis infection in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected individuals. ⋯ There was good agreement between the TST and T-SPOT.TB results of latent tuberculosis infection in participants. TST is the preferred test for diagnosing latent tuberculosis infection in HIV-infected patients, especially in resource-limited settings, because it is simple and cost-effective. However, T-SPOT.TB may be useful to rule out latent tuberculosis infection in patients with severe immunodeficiency.
