Identification of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms as Biomarkers for Recurrent Pregnancy Loss in Korean Women.
Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are reportedly associated with repeated abortion. Thus, genetic analysis based on race is the key to developing accurate diagnostic tests. This study analyzed the genetic polymorphisms of recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) patients among Korean women compared to the controls. ⋯ There is a significant association between the risk of RPL and miR-449b/TNF-α combination, and therefore, genetic analysis for specific combined genotypes can be an important screening method for RPL in Korean women.

Evaluation of Five User-Friendly Whole Genome Sequencing Software for Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Clinical Application.
Whole genome sequencing (WGS) is an increasingly useful tool for tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis and disease management. In this study, we evaluated the utility of user-friendly WGS tools in reporting resistance profiles and identifying lineages of clinical TB isolates from South Korea. ⋯ WGS may play a pivotal role in TB diagnosis and the detection of drug resistance, genetic diversity, and transmission dynamics in the near future because of its accuracy, speed, and extensibility.

Assessment of Inhaler Satisfaction and Determinants of High Satisfaction Among Korean COPD Patients.
The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) guidelines for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) recommend considering patient preference when choosing an inhaler device. However, few studies have assessed both inhaler satisfaction and factors associated with high inhaler satisfaction. Therefore, we assessed inhaler satisfaction and determinants of high satisfaction in Korean COPD patients. ⋯ High inhaler satisfaction was associated with dyspnea symptom and good inhaler adherence in COPD patients. Effective strategies are needed including appropriate inhaler device selection, consideration of patient preference, and repeated inhaler education to improve patient satisfaction of inhalers.
