Changes in the Health Indicators of Hospital Medical Residents During the Four-Year Training Period in Korea.
In South Korea, the legal maximum working hours per week for medical residents is 88 hours, which are longer than those for other occupations, and the intensity of the workload is also remarkably high. Long working hours and job-related stress can worsen the health status of residents. This study aimed to analyze the four-year annual health checkup (AHC) data of residents to identify changes in their health indicators. ⋯ This study is meaningful as it is the first study in Korea to investigate the changes in the health of residents through objective health indicators. The possibility of the 4-year training period adversely affecting the health of residents was confirmed. Health indicators were significantly worsened, especially in the early training period, in surgical residents, and in residents who worked for long hours. Efforts are needed to restrict long working hours and distribute workload during the 4-year training period.

Factors Related to Anxiety and Depression Among Adolescents During COVID-19: A Web-Based Cross-Sectional Survey.
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak and subsequent disease-containment measures (such as school closures) significantly affected the lives of adolescents. We evaluated the mental-health status and factors associated with anxiety and depression among South Korean adolescents. ⋯ The present study identified COVID-19-related factors associated with anxiety and depression among adolescents, and provides insights regarding potential interventions to improve the mental health of adolescents. To promote the mental health of adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic, special attention should be paid to individuals with physical or mental-health problems, and efforts should be made to reduce the negative social and emotional impacts of infection-control measures.

Outcomes of Empirical Treatment With Intravenous Immunoglobulin G Combined With Low-Dose Aspirin in Women With Unexplained Recurrent Pregnancy Loss.
To assess the clinical efficacy of intravenous immunoglobulin G (IVIG) administration combined with low-dose aspirin in women with unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL). ⋯ IVIG combined with low-dose aspirin treatment showed favorable pregnancy outcomes regardless of the patient's NK cell counts (%).

Case ReportsBilateral Vocal Fold Paralysis After COVID-19 mRNA Vaccination: A Case Report.
Since severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was noted to cause coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in 2019, there have been many trials to develop vaccines against the virus. Messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) vaccine as a type of the vaccine has been developed and commercialized rapidly, but there was not enough time to verify the long-term safety. An 82-year-old female patient was admitted to the emergency room with dyspnea accompanied by stridor three days after the 3rd COVID-19 mRNA vaccination (Comirnaty, Pfizer-BioNTech, USA). ⋯ The brain, chest, and neck imaging tests, serological tests, cardiological analysis, and immunological tests were performed to evaluate the cause of bilateral VFP. However, no definite cause was found except for the precedent vaccination. Because bilateral VFP can lead to a fatal condition, a quick evaluation is necessary in consideration of VFP when dyspnea with stridor occurs after vaccination.

Facet Joint Versus Transforaminal Epidural Steroid Injections in Patients With Cervical Radicular Pain due to Foraminal Stenosis: A Retrospective Comparative Study.
A cervical transforaminal epidural (TFE) steroid injection is a useful treatment option for cervical radicular pain, but it carries a small risk of catastrophic complications. Several studies have reported that cervical facet joint (FJ) steroid injection can reduce cervical radicular pain through an indirect epidural spread. The aim of this retrospective comparative study was to evaluate the pain scores and functional disability in subjects receiving cervical FJ or TFE steroid injection for the treatment of cervical radicular pain due to foraminal stenosis (FS). ⋯ The efficacy of FJ steroid injection may not be inferior to that of TFE steroid injection in patients with cervical radicular pain due to FS.
