Obstructive Sleep Apnea Is Associated With Late-Onset Preeclampsia in Overweight Pregnant Women in Korea.
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is closely related to maternal obesity in pregnant women, and the association increases with later pregnancy. Obesity and OSA are risk factors of pregnancy-related complications, including gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), and fetal morbidities. We aimed to determine the prevalence of OSA and to assess the impact of OSA on pregnancy-related disorders in overweight pregnant women. ⋯ OSA is an important risk factor for preeclampsia, resulting in preterm delivery. For overweight pregnant women, an OSA evaluation should be mandatory.

Diagnostic Usefulness of Varicella Zoster Virus-Specific Immunoglobulin (Ig) A and IgG in Patients With Herpes Zoster.
Whether varicella zoster virus (VZV) antibody titer could discriminate patients with herpes zoster (HZ) from healthy controls (HCs) is unclear. We evaluated the diagnostic usefulness of VZV-specific immunoglobulin A (IgA) and immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies in patients with confirmed HZ. ⋯ VZV IgA positivity or four-fold or higher increase in VZV IgG antibody titers were not detected in a satisfactory proportion of HZ-infected patients. However, the titer of VZV IgA or IgG antibody particularly in convalescent-phase sera may discriminate HZ patients from HCs.

Case ReportsAdult-Onset Type 1 Diabetes Development Following COVID-19 mRNA Vaccination.
During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, COVID-19 vaccination-induced hyperglycemia and related complications have been reported. However, there have been few reports of type 1 diabetes triggered by COVID-19 vaccines in subjects without diabetes. Here, we report the case of a 56-year-old female patient who developed hyperglycemia after the second dose of COVID-19 mRNA-based vaccination without a prior history of diabetes. ⋯ The fasting serum C-peptide level decreased to 0.269 ng/mL 5 days after admission, and the anti-glutamic acid decarboxylase antibody was positive. The patient was discharged in stable condition with insulin treatment. To our knowledge, this is the first case of the development of type 1 diabetes without diabetic ketoacidosis after mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccination, and is the oldest case of type 1 diabetes development under such circumstances.

Association Between Regional Levels of Particulate Matter and Recurrent Falls in Korea.
We investigated the extent of regional disparity of recurrent falls. In addition, we examined the association between particulate matter (PM) and recurrent falls and the association between regional disparity of recurrent falls and regional PM levels. ⋯ PM concentration was associated with recurrent falls even after accounting for other regional variables and individual-level differences. Moreover, there were regional differences in the occurrence of falls, and the PM concentration explained a part of the gap, but the gap was explained more in the older group than in the young.
