Randomized Controlled TrialSerial Changes of Cytokines in Children with Cerebral Palsy Who Received Intravenous Granulocyte-colony Stimulating Factor Followed by Autologous Mobilized Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells.
This study was performed to assess serial cytokine changes and their clinical impact in children with cerebral palsy (CP) who received granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) followed by infusion of autologous mobilized peripheral blood mononuclear cells (mPBMCs). ⋯ The changes of G-CSF itself, as well as G-CSF-induced cytokines such as IL-6, may be associated with the clinical improvement of neurologic functions. The G-CSF-induced changes of IL-6, BDNF and IGF-1, and BDNF levels before treatment, could be used as prognostic factors in G-CSF trials in CP children.

Metal Artifact Reduction for Orthopedic Implants: Brain CT Angiography in Patients with Intracranial Metallic Implants.
The purpose of this study was to qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate the effects of a metal artifact reduction for orthopedic implants (O-MAR) for brain computed tomographic angiography (CTA) in patients with aneurysm clips and coils. ⋯ In conclusion, the use of the O-MAR in patients with metallic implants significantly reduces image noise. However, the degree of the streak artifacts and surrounding vessel depiction were not significantly improved on O-MAR images.

Case ReportsSuccessful in Vitro Fertilization and Embryo Transfer after Transplantation of Cryopreserved Ovarian Tissue: Report of the First Korean Case.
For patients at risk of premature ovarian failure with cancer treatment, it is an important option to re-implant the ovarian tissue (OT) after cryopreservation to preserve endocrine function and fertility. With this technique, about 30% of pregnancy success rate and about 90 live births have been reported to date. However, there has been no case report of successful in vitro fertilization (IVF) and embryo transfer (ET) with oocytes collected from transplanted cryopreserved OT in Korea. ⋯ Thereafter, the patient underwent 11 ovarian stimulation cycles, and in 7 cycles, follicle growth was observed at the OT graft site. In one of these cycles, the oocyte was successfully retrieved and one embryo was transplanted after IVF. The patient was not pregnant, but the cryopreservation of OT can save the fertility after anticancer chemotherapy.

Impact of Osteoarthritis on Household Catastrophic Health Expenditures in Korea.
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a disease of old age whose prevalence is increasing. This study explored the impact of OA on household catastrophic health expenditure (CHE) in Korea. ⋯ The presence of OA patients in Korean households is significantly related to CHE. Policy makers should try to reduce OOP payments in households with OA patients.
