Randomized Controlled TrialPerceptions of prognosis and end-of-life care outcomes in patients with advanced lung and gastrointestinal cancer.
Many patients with advanced cancer have misperceptions of their prognosis, which may impact end-of-life decision-making. Data regarding associations between prognostic perceptions over time and end-of-life care outcomes are lacking. ⋯ Patients' perceptions of their prognosis are associated with important end-of-life care outcomes. Interventions are needed to enhance patients' perceptions of their prognosis and optimize their end-of-life care.

ReviewPalliative care referral criteria and application in pediatric illness care: A scoping review.
Specialty pediatric palliative care services can help to address unmet care needs for children with complex and serious illness. Current guidelines support the identification of unmet palliative care needs; however, it is unknown how these guidelines or other clinical characteristics influence pediatric palliative care referral in research and practice. ⋯ The literature demonstrates inconsistent methods for identifying and referring children and adolescents with unmet palliative care needs. Prospective cohort studies and clinical trials would inform more consistent pediatric palliative care referral practices. More research is needed on palliative care referral and outcomes in community-focused pediatrics.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyMeasurement equivalence of the paper-based and electronic version of the Integrated Palliative care Outcome Scale (IPOS): A randomised crossover trial.
The Integrated Palliative Care Outcome Scale (IPOS) validly and reliably measures symptoms and concerns of those receiving palliative care. ⋯ The very high equivalence in scores and free text between the IPOS and the eIPOS demonstrates that eIPOS is feasible and reliable in an older palliative population.

Randomized Controlled TrialHealthcare use and healthcare costs for patients with advanced cancer; the international ACTION cluster-randomised trial on advance care planning.
Advance care planning supports patients to reflect on and discuss preferences for future treatment and care. Studies of the impact of advance care planning on healthcare use and healthcare costs are scarce. ⋯ Lower care costs as observed in the intervention group were mainly related to patients' characteristics. A definite impact of the intervention itself could not be established.
