Validated non-invasive examinations are necessary to monitor liver fibrosis in children with biliary atresia (BA) after the Kasai procedure. ⋯ 2D-SWE, TE, APRI, and FIB-4 score are accurate non-invasive markers for monitoring native liver fibrosis in patients with BA. Combined use of serologic markers and US elastography could yield more accurate diagnoses of liver fibrosis than serologic markers alone.

The reproducibility of intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM)-based radiomics studies in humans has not been reported. ⋯ Inter- and intra-observer variability can affect radiomics analysis. Cognizant to this, multicenter studies should pay more attention to intra- and inter-observer variability.

Most trauma systems and traumatic spinal injury guidelines mandate spinal stabilization from the site of injury to a radiological confirmation or refutal of spinal injury. Vacuum mattresses have been advocated for patients in need of prehospital spinal stabilization. ⋯ Our study concludes that it is feasible to maintain some vacuum mattresses through resuscitation bay conventional radiography of chest and pelvis. They do not result in artefacts hampering with clinical judgment. Our vacuum mattress No. 1 is recommendable for this purpose. Together with our previous findings our present results indicate that some vacuum mattresses may be used throughout the initial resuscitation bay assessment and CT examination.

Aortoesophageal fistula (AEF) is a rare but fatal condition causing massive upper gastrointestinal bleeding. ⋯ Rapid identification and surgical treatment are necessary to increase the likelihood of survival, if emergency surgery is feasible. TEVAR in a timely fashion facilitates hemodynamic stabilization by rapidly controlling hemorrhage and saves the patient's life.

In the assessment of diseases causing skeletal lesions such as multiple myeloma (MM), whole-body low-dose computed tomography (WBLDCT) is a sensitive diagnostic imaging modality, which has the potential to replace the conventional radiographic survey. ⋯ Third-generation DSCT requires significantly lower radiation dose for WBLDCT than second-generation DSCT and has an effective dose below reported doses for radiographic skeletal surveys. To ensure radiation protection, DRLs regarding WBLDCT are required, where our locally determined values may help as benchmarks.
