Background The superficial white matter (SWM), which fills the space between the deep white matter and the cortex, has not been well characterized. Purpose To determine whether the assessment of the relative signal intensity (SI) of the SWM in the precentral and postcentral gyri on phase difference enhanced (PADRE) images contributes in establishing anatomical landmark. Material and Methods The study population consisted of 43 normal subjects (28 women, 15 men; mean age, 52.9 years; age range, 22-90 years). ⋯ In the SI analyses of the PADRE images, the Grade I, Grade II, and Grade III appearances were found in one (1%), 20 (23%), and 65 (76%) of the 86 precentral gyri (43 subjects), respectively, and in one (1%), 23 (27%), and 62 (72%) of the 86 postcentral gyri, respectively. Conclusion On PADRE images, the perirolandic SWM showed hypointensity compared to other cerebral cortices, which probably reflects differences in the concentrations of the nerve fibers, as well as the higher myelin content. PADRE may be useful for the identification of the central sulcus by assessing the SI of the SWM.

Reliable magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) diagnosis is important in cases of posterolateral corner (PLC) injury due to the limitations of physical examination in patients with multi-ligament injury. ⋯ 3D MRI is a valid modality for detecting PLC abnormalities as it visualizes pathologies in each component and exhibits the positive fibular cap sign.

Assessment of coronary flow is only performed during pharmacological tests. Supine bicycle tests permit the visualization of coronary flow assessments during exercise. ⋯ Non-invasive CFVR measurement in the LAD could provide valuable additional information to a conventional echocardiography exercise test. In routine clinical practice, CFVR is sufficient for a diagnosis of severe stenosis.

Whole body computed tomography in trauma (WBCTT) is a standardized CT examination of trauma patients. It has a relatively high radiation dose. Therefore, well-defined clinical indications and imaging protocols are needed. This information regarding Nordic countries is limited. ⋯ Scanning protocols, radiation doses, and routines differ significantly between hospitals and trauma centers. Guideline for WBCTT is presently defined locally in most Nordic hospitals. There is an interest in most Nordic hospitals to endorse new and common guidelines for WBCTT.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is increasingly being used to examine patients with suspected breast cancer. ⋯ Combined DCE-MRI and DWI had superior diagnostic accuracy than either DCE-MRI or DWI alone for the diagnosis of breast cancer.
