Accuracy of CT angiography in the assessment of the circle of Willis: comparison of volume-rendered images and digital subtraction angiography.
Computed tomography angiography (CTA) is increasingly used for non-invasive imaging of the cerebrovascular diseases. ⋯ CTA is highly accurate in the assessment of anatomical variations of the circle of Willis; however, its sensitivity is limited in depicting hypoplastic segments.

Wandering spleen is rare and is associated with a high incidence of splenic torsion and infarction. Presenting symptoms range from an asymptomatic, incidentally palpated abdominal mass to an acutely ill patient. Because wandering spleen is uncommon in the pediatric population, a heightened awareness of the condition is required for accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. We present a case of a 4-year-old girl who presented with acute abdomen and was surgically confirmed to have a wandering spleen with torsion and complete infarction.

Evaluation of pneumonia in children: comparison of MRI with fast imaging sequences at 1.5T with chest radiographs.
Although there has been a study aimed at magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) evaluation of pneumonia in children at a low magnetic field (0.2T), there is no study which assessed the efficacy of MRI, particularly with fast imaging sequences at 1.5T, for evaluating pneumonia in children. ⋯ MRI with fast imaging sequences is comparable to chest radiographs for evaluating underlying pulmonary consolidation, bronchiectasis, necrosis/abscess, and pleural effusion often associated with pneumonia in children.

It is important to differentiate sinonasal fungus ball from non-fungal sinusitis and other forms of fungal sinusitis in order to determine the optimal treatment. In particular, a sinonasal fungus ball, a non-invasive fungal sinusitis, can be characterized by radiologic findings before surgery. ⋯ When there are no calcifications visible on the CT scan, a hyperattenuating fungal ball located in the central area of the sinus with mucosal thickening on enhanced CT scans is an important feature of a non-invasive sinonasal fungus ball. On MRI, a sinonasal fungus ball has typical features of a marked hypointense fungus ball with a hyperintense mucosal membrane in T2-weighted images. A contrast-enhanced CT scan or MRI provides sufficient information for the preoperative differentiation of a sinonasal fungus ball from other forms of sinusitis.

The feasibility of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) of prostate has been confirmed by several studies. Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and fractional anisotropy (FA) values of prostate with healthy or pathological changes remain controversial. ⋯ ADC and FA values of normal prostate may be compatible with the microstructural organization of prostate. Furthermore, DTI may be a potential tool in diagnosing prostate cancer in the peripheral zone.
