Preoperative localization with lipiodol for identifying small or deeply seated pulmonary nodules is simple and useful for thoracoscopic surgery. Although several studies about performance and complication rates of lipiodol localization have been reported, there has been no report about the performance and complication rates of lipiodol localization with regard to the CT appearance of pulmonary nodules. ⋯ Lipiodol marking under CT guidance is a useful and safe procedure for the intraoperative localization of pulmonary nodules. Of variable CT findings, lesion size is important to determine the degree of lipiodol accumulation and the lesion depth is the most important feature for the development of postprocedural complications.

although mammography remains the mainstay for breast cancer screening, it is an imperfect examination with a sensitivity of 75-92% for breast cancer. Computer-aided detection (CAD) has been developed to improve mammographic detection of breast cancer. ⋯ CAD with FFDM showed a high sensitivity in identifying cancers manifesting as calcifications or masses. CAD sensitivity was maintained in small lesions (1-20 mm) and invasive lobular carcinomas, which have lower mammographic sensitivity.

Early rebleeding after coiling of a ruptured intracranial aneurysm (IA) may cause disability or death. The incidence and predictors of early rebleeding have previously been sparsely investigated. ⋯ The incidence of early rebleeding after acutely coiled ruptured IA was 3.6%. Risk factors for post-procedural rehemorrhage were the presence of ICH on the initial CT and HH grade 3–5 before coiling. Early rebleeding appeared exclusively as an enlargement of the initial ICH and not an increased amount of blood in the subarachnoid space.

Enhancement characteristics of breast lesions are regarded as a major criterion for their differential diagnosis in dynamic breast MRI (bMRI). However, ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) exhibits a highly heterogeneous enhancement pattern when kinetic analysis is performed conventionally by manual placement of region of interest (ROI) and therefore its diagnosis remains challenging. ⋯ The detection of suspicious enhancement curves could not be significantly increased in DCIS lesions when using computer-aided analysis despite a significantly higher detection rate of washout curves alone.

With the aid of newly developed functional brain imaging studies, studies are ongoing to see if acupuncture first acts on specific brain areas to induce effects on the human body. ⋯ Changes of glucose metabolism in specific brain areas following stimulation by acupuncture on LR3 and ST44 were documented using FDG-PET/CT.
