Dual-energy CT (DECT) provides additional image datasets which enable improved tumor delineation or reduction of beam hardening artifacts in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). ⋯ Head and neck imaging with third-generation DECT can reduce radiation dose by half compared to SECT, while maintaining excellent image quality.

Sex-related differences of vertebral bone marrow fat in relation to varying bone densities have not yet been evaluated although some studies have reported an inverse association of bone marrow fat and bone mineral density (BMD). ⋯ The FF values of vertebral bone marrow correlated inversely with BMD. Sex-related differences of FF values was related to BMD.

Predicting postoperative lung function is critical in lung cancer patients. Perfusion scintigraphy has been used to estimate postoperative function after lung resection. ⋯ Predictions with each processing method of lung perfusion scintigraphy showed nearly similar results to the actual postoperative lung function. The posterior oblique method of lung perfusion scintigraphy showed a very small difference to such an extent as to be equal to the observed FEV1, implying that this method may be applied for predicting postoperative lung function in lung cancer patients.

Bridging treatment with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) before endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) in acute ischemic stroke is applied under the assumption of benefits for patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO). However, the benefit of this additional step has not yet been proven. ⋯ Bridging treatment in LVO did not show benefits or elevated risks of complications in comparison to EVT only. The bridging group did not show significantly better neurological outcome or significant impact on procedural parameters vs. EVT alone.

Corticosteroid injections are a popular technique for carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) treatment and are believed to provide rapid symptom relief. ⋯ Symptom relief in patients with CTS receiving corticosteroid injection is related to the change in ADC of the median nerve at the level of the pisiform bone, as determined using MR-DTI.
