[Pathogenesis and clinical features of painful dysfunctions of the locomotor system].
In the pathogenesis of painful dysfunctions of the locomotor apparatus superficial pain, deep pain and compression pain as well as referred pain play a role. The development of this pain is discussed. ⋯ Therapeutic indications are given. The importance of the differential diagnostic evaluation of pain syndrome is stressed, in particular if it seems, that there is no organic background.

In practice, the most serious emergency cases may result from shortness of breath and bleeding. Some typical diseases such as subglottal laryngitis in small children and the edema of the larynx entrance are described in greater detail and emergency measures are discussed. Special attention is drawn to the aspiration of foreign bodies and the complications connected with the desensitization of allergy patients. ⋯ A further subject is bleeding disorders in the field of otolaryngology; above all the treatment of epistaxis is discussed in greater detail. Reference is made to the various local emergency measures which in practice may become inevitable. In this context the limits of therapy outside the hospital are listed.

Report on 21 patients with the syndrome of normal pressure hydrocephalus. All patients were treated by implantation of a shunt-system (ventriculo-atrial shunt). ⋯ The prognosis depends upon the etiology and the duration of the disease. The best results can be expected in cases of normal pressure hydrocephalus following subarachnoid hemorrhage.
