Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of colpexin sphere on pelvic floor muscle strength in women with pelvic organ prolapse: a randomized controlled trial (a preliminary report).
The aim of this study was to assess the effect of Colpexin Sphere with pelvic floor exercise in women with stage I and II pelvic organ prolapse on improving pelvic floor muscle strength compared with the pelvic floor exercise only. ⋯ Even though Colpexin Sphere plus pelvic floor exercise improved pelvic floor muscle strength, the improvement was not statistically different from exercise alone.

Case ReportsPeripartum anesthetic management of a patient with brittle cornea syndrome.
Brittle cornea syndrome (BCS) is a rare autosomal recessive disease that affects the connective tissue. The syndrome is caused by genetic changes in the 4.7-Mb interval between the D16S3423 and D16S3425 markers on the 16q24 chromosome and mutations in the Zinc-Finger 469 gene (ZNF469). ⋯ This phenotypical expression presents an interesting challenge to anesthetic care. We briefly present the perioperative management of a patient with BCS who underwent three cesarean sections.

Junior doctors' understanding of vulval pain/vulvodynia: a qualitative survey.
The objective of this survey is to explore junior doctors' understanding of vulvodynia using a questionnaire. ⋯ There is little understanding about vulvodynia among junior gynaecologists. Most of them did not have any form of basic training about the condition even after reaching the final stages of the speciality training. In view of the estimated prevalence, there is a need for including some form of local and/or regional teaching about the causes and management of vulvar pain, particularly for those who are about to finish their speciality training.

Case ReportsAntepartum intracranial hemorrhage due to unrecognized unilateral moyamoya disease: a case report.
Moyamoya (meaning a "hazy puff of smoke" in Japanese) disease is a rare cerebrovascular occlusive disease. Moyamoya disease may become symptomatic for the first time during pregnancy. We report a case of antepartum intracranial hemorrhage due to unrecognized unilateral moyamoya disease, which was subsequently diagnosed as HELLP syndrome during the postpartum period. ⋯ Moyamoya disease is a rare entity that must be considered in the differential diagnosis of hemorrhagic stroke during pregnancy. It is important to perform careful monitoring and adequate management with cooperation between obstetricians and other specialists when serious complications arise.

Risk factors in prolonged postpartum urinary retention: an analysis of six cases.
Prolonged first and second stage of labor, isolated prolongation of the second stage, forceps delivery or vacuum extraction, perineal laceration, nulliparity and epidural anesthesia are known risk factors for developing prolonged postpartum urinary retention (PUR). The aim of our study was to analyze number and constellations of these risk factors, in prolonged postpartum urinary retention (PPUR) in our own unit to facilitate the identification of patients at high risk and thus to prevent bladder overdistension by early intervention. ⋯ In contrast to simple PUR, the prolonged form of PUR could be the result of a cumulative effect of different single risk factors.
