Tumor spread through air spaces (STAS) has been identified as an invasive pattern in lung adenocarcinoma (ADC), but the prognostic implication of STAS has not been well studied in patients with pathologic N0 lung ADC. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prognostic implication of STAS in pathologic N0 lung ADC patients after radical surgery. ⋯ In this study, STAS was an independent prognostic factor for RFS in pathologic N0 lung adenocarcinomas, and it was also an independent prognostic factor for RFS and OS in patients with APA/PPA/IMA and those who received lobectomy.

Immortal time bias (ITB) can hinder appropriate interpretations of studies administering adjuvant therapies. Given the increase in National Cancer Data Base (NCDB) analyses evaluating postoperative radiation therapy (PORT) as an adjuvant therapy, we sought to practically demonstrate the effects of ITB by performing a series of simulated NCDB analyses. ⋯ Immortal time bias can alter the results of survival analyses if not carefully accounted for. Adjusting for this bias is essential for accurate data interpretation and to better quantify the impact and effect size of adjuvant therapies such as PORT.

Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR) has shown high rates of local control and prolonged survival in early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), though its role in oligometastatic disease is undefined. This study aimed to evaluate SABR as a local consolidative therapy (LCT) in oligometastatic NSCLC patients. ⋯ The use of SABR as LCT in oligometastatic NSCLC patients was well tolerated and showed favorable results regarding PFS and OS compared with historical data. The benefit was significantly higher in patients who reached a CMR as assessed by 18F-FDG-PET/CT.

Quality of life with adjuvant gefitinib versus vinorelbine plus cisplatin in patients with completely resected stage II-IIIA (N1-N2) EGFR-mutant non-small-cell lung cancer: Results from the ADJUVANT (CTONG1104) study.
Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) data complement conventional clinical endpoints when comparing adjuvant gefitinib with chemotherapy in patients with early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations. This study aimed to assess changes in HRQoL with adjuvant gefitinib vs chemotherapy in this patient group. ⋯ Adjuvant gefitinib is associated with improved HRQoL over VP, supporting its use in patients with stage II-IIIA (N1-N2), EGFR-mutant NSCLC.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized the oncologic treatment landscape, but have been accompanied by immune-related adverse events (irAEs). ICI-related pneumonitis (ICI-pneumonitis) is a potentially fatal irAE. However, the risk factors associated with ICI-pneumonitis remain unclear. There is an urgent need to identify risk factors for ICI-pneumonitis using reliable and accessible parameters. Here, we aimed to identify baseline peripheral-blood biomarkers correlated with ICI-pneumonitis and clinical outcomes in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who were treated with ICIs. ⋯ Among patients treated with ICIs, a baseline feature of high AEC (≥0.125 × 109 cells/L) was associated with an increasing risk of ICI-pneumonitis, and with a better clinical outcome.
