Androgen deprivation therapy has some clinical activity in selected salivary gland cancer histotypes, with androgen receptor expression. ⋯ We confirm the activity of androgen deprivation therapy in androgen receptor-expressing recurrent/metastatic salivary gland cancers. The hypothesis that an androgen receptor increased gene copy number may represent a possible mechanism of primary resistance should be further investigated.

In recent decades, medical malpractice costs have increased and have led to a change in the way physicians practice medicine. Tracheotomies are cases in which complications have a high risk of morbidity and mortality and the potential for litigation. ⋯ An awareness of tracheotomy malpractice litigation has the potential to both help physicians avoid future litigation and improve patient safety.
