Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial
Effect of c-erbB(2) and estrogen receptor status on survival of women with primary breast cancer treated with adjuvant cyclophosphamide/methotrexate/fluorouracil.
We have investigated the relationship between c-erbB(2) status, estrogen receptor (ER) status and outcome in 274 women with node-positive breast cancer who, following excision and axillary clearance, were randomized to receive either 6 cycles of cyclophosphamide/methotrexate/fluorouracil (CMF) (n = 129) or no such treatment (n = 145). Follow-up data (median 13.3 years) were available on all patients. CMF improved relapse-free and overall survival of all women. ⋯ J. Cancer (Pred. Oncol.) 84:354-359, 1999.
