Relationship of adverse events to quality of anticoagulation control in atrial fibrillation patients with diabetes: Real-world data from the FANTASIIA registry.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) patients with diabetes (DM) have high risk of cardiovascular events. ⋯ AF Diabetic patients have higher comorbidities and poorer TTR than nondiabetic patients. Low TTR was associated with adverse events. The risk of cardiovascular outcomes was higher in DM patients, with independent association between DM and mortality risk.

To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of magnetic resonance urography (MRU) and determine its value for detecting ureteric obstruction. ⋯ These findings suggested a relatively high diagnostic value of MRU for detecting ureteric obstruction. Moreover, the diagnostic accuracy of MRU in adults was higher than in children. KEY MESSAGE Magnetic resonance urography (MRU) in detecting ureteric obstruction has relatively better sensitivity, specificity, PLR, NLR, DOR and AUC. The diagnostic value, including specificity, PLR and AUC of MRU in adults, was higher than in children, while the sensitivity of MRU in adults was lower than in children.

Review Case Reports
Vasculitides and glomerulonephritis associated with Staphylocococcus aureus infective endocarditis: cases reports and mini-review of the literature.
We reported two cases of Staphylococcus aureus Infective Endocarditis associated with vasculitides and glomerulonephritis respectively, before conducting an online search of previously published similar cases reports. Twenty five references were selected: 15 cases of glomerulonephritis; 2 cases of vasculitis and 8 cases involving both glomerulonephritis and vasculitis. Vasculitides and glomerulonephritis associated with Staphylococcus aureus definite Infective Endocarditis have been reported since 1976. ⋯ KEY MESSAGES Vasculitides and glomerulonephritis associated with Staphylococcus aureus definite Infective Endocarditis have been reported since 1976. Except kidney, organs that were more frequently affected (by small to medium size vessel vasculitis) were skin, gastrointestinal tract and peripheral nerve. The most commonly observed pattern in Kidney biopsy was membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis with endocapillary proliferation and right-sided Infective Endocarditis (especially in intravenous drug users) were overrepresented in this review.

Postpericardiotomy syndrome (PPS) is a well-known complication after cardiac surgery. The syndrome results in prolonged hospital stay, readmissions, and invasive interventions. Previous studies have reported inconsistent results concerning the incidence and risk factors for PPS due to the differences in the applied diagnostic criteria, study designs, patient populations, and procedure types. ⋯ In contrast with the previous presumption, severe PPS - defined as PPS requiring invasive interventions - was recently found to be associated with higher all-cause mortality during the first two years after cardiac surgery. The association with an increased mortality supports the use of relatively aggressive prophylactic methods to prevent PPS. The risk factors clearly increasing the occurrence of PPS are younger age, pleural incision, and valve and ascending aortic procedures when compared to CABG.
