The objective of this study is to explore the clinicopathological characteristics of gastric cancer and precancerous conditions in patients with primary gastric lymphoma. ⋯ Patients with primary gastric lymphoma have a high risk of developing gastric cancer and precancerous conditions, and this risk may be related to Helicobacter pylori infection. Follow-up of primary gastric lymphoma provides an opportunity for the detection of early gastric cancer.Key messages5.1% of the patients with primary gastric lymphoma were diagnosed with gastric cancer.14.6% of the patients with gastric lymphoma had premalignant lesions including atrophy (14.6%), intestinal metaplasia (8.9%), and low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia (1.9%).Primary gastric lymphoma patients complicating with gastric cancer had a higher infection rate of Helicobacter pylori (100.0%), a detection rate of early gastric cancer (25.0%) and a five-year survival rate (40.0%) than the general Chinese population.

Despite recommendations for COVID-19 primary series completion and booster doses for children and adolescents, coverage has been less than optimal, particularly in some subpopulations. This study explored disparities in childhood/adolescent COVID-19 vaccination, parental intent to vaccinate their children and adolescents, and reasons for non-vaccination in the US. ⋯ Disparities in COVID-19 vaccination coverage among children and adolescents continue to exist. Further efforts are needed to increase COVID-19 primary series and booster vaccination and parental confidence in vaccines.

Bowman's capsule rupture (BCR) is a glomerular pathological change, but it is still not well recognized in immunoglobulin A vasculitis nephritis (IgAV-N). The Oxford MEST-C score is a classification for IgA nephropathy; however, its clinical correlation and prognostic value in adult patients with IgAV-N are unclear. ⋯ BCR is associated with clinical manifestations and pathological changes in patients with IgAV-N. The ISKDC classification and MEST-C score are related to the patient's condition, but only the MEST-C score is correlated with the prognosis of patients with IgAV-N, while BCR can improve its predictive ability.

Chronic diseases often accumulate with musculoskeletal (MSK) pain. However, less evidence is available on idiosyncratic patterns of chronic diseases and their relationships with the severity of MSK pain in general MSK pain populations. ⋯ Distinct patterns of chronic disease accumulation can be identified in the general MSK pain population. It seems that mental and metabolic health are at interplay with severe MSK pain. These findings suggest a potential need to screen for psychiatric and metabolic entities of health when treating working-aged people with MSK pain.Key messagesThis large study on middle-aged people with musculoskeletal pain aimed to examine the idiosyncratic patterns of chronic diseases and their relationships with the severity of musculoskeletal pain. Latent class cluster analysis identified three chronic disease clusters: Psychiatric, Metabolic, and Relatively Healthy. People with accumulated mental (Psychiatric cluster) or metabolic diseases (Metabolic cluster) experienced more severe pain than people who were relatively healthy (Relatively Healthy cluster). These findings suggest a potential need to screen for psychiatric and metabolic entities of health when treating working-aged people with MSK pain.

Infections contribute significantly to neonatal mortality in Nigeria. Community health officers (CHOs) provide maternal, newborn and child health services at the primary health care level. However, newborn infection prevention and control (NB-IPC) is not included in their current training curriculum, which has little innovation in teaching methods. This study assessed the effectiveness of a blended curriculum on NB-IPC in improving the competencies of student CHOs. ⋯ The new curriculum on NB-IPC improved the competencies of student CHOs in LUTH and they were highly satisfied. The blended curriculum may be a feasible addition to learning in CHO schools across Nigeria.Key messageA blended curriculum on NB-IPC involving video teaching is effective in improving the competencies of student CHOs.
