Endometriosis in the time of internet: how web navigation affects women with endometriosis.
Patients often search for health-related information on the internet allthough this trend may have some benefits, it also has some risks, such as misinformation. The aim of this study is to evaluate how Internet information seeking affect the level of anxiety in patients with endometriosis. ⋯ Women who sought information online were younger, had lower levels of state trait anxiety after our medical evaluation, and a had a greater reduction in anxiety levels after our examination compared to women who consulted other sources to learn more about endometriosis.KEY MESSAGESWomen using only Internet are younger than those who use other sources of information.Women who researched symptoms online showed higher pre-examination anxiety levels.Patients with severe pain symptoms consulted both the internet and professionals.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is associated with perioperative liver transplantation (LT) mortality. In absence of a defined risk algorithm, we aimed to test whether stress echocardiography and coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) could detect CAD in end-stage liver disease (ESLD) patients without previous evidence of heart disease. ⋯ A very low prevalence of CAD in a selected population of ESLD at intermediate to high CV risk was found. A screening based on stress echocardiography and CCTA resulted in low incidence of post-LT acute coronary events in ELSD patients. CAD has no impact on mid-term survival.

Inflammation is an important pathogenic factor of most malignant tumors. It is essential to understand mechanism underlying inflammation and cancer development, so as to formulate and develop anti-cancer treatment strategies. However, inflammatory-related gene characterization as well as risk model construction in prognosis and response chemotherapy or immunotherapy in NSCLC are still remain unclear. ⋯ Inflammatory-related gene risk-score is the potential chemotherapeutic and immunotherapeutic biomarker for NSCLC, and targeting KRT6A sensitive to mitoxantrone and oxaliplatin in NSCLC.HighlightsInflammatory-related genes can lay a certain foundation for distinguishing high-risk NSCLC cases with dismal prognostic outcome.Risk-score base on inflammatory-related genes is positive correlated with CD274, TGFBR1 and TGFB1 expression.Targeting KRT6A sensitive to mitoxantrone and oxaliplatin in H1299 and HCC827 cells.

This study aims to evaluate the prognostic value of m6A-associated long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and their interaction with tumour microenvironment in thyroid cancer (THCA). ⋯ Eleven of the m6A-associated lncRNAs were identified as a risk model to predict clinical outcomes and provide a novel and efficient immunotherapeutic strategy for THCA patients.Key messagesm6A-associated lncRNAs can be used to predict the clinical outcomes of thyroid cancer patients. An m6A-associated lncRNAs risk model, which can accurately evaluate the immune status and risk stratification in individual thyroid cancer patients, was established.Knockdown/overexpression of representative lncRNAs in the risk model significantly affected the proliferation and migration of papillary thyroid cancer cells.

Beta-2-microglobulin (B2M), cystatin C and lipocalin-2 (LCN-2) are established renal biomarkers, yet their roles in stroke have not been fully evaluated. We aimed to investigate the relationship of B2M, cystatin C, and LCN-2 with stroke risk in a general Chinese population. ⋯ Elevated serum B2M, cystatin C and LCN-2 levels are associated with stroke risk. They may be novel biomarkers for clinicians to assess stroke risk.Key messagesSerum beta-2-microglobulin, cystatin C and lipocalin-2 levels are significantly associated with stroke risk.Beta-2-microglobulin, cystatin C and lipocalin-2 may serve as useful biomarkers for stroke risk stratification in the general population.
