This population-based study aimed to determine the hesitancy and willingness to pay (WTP) for the booster dose of a coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine among patients with cancer in Taizhou, China. ⋯ Hesitant patients with cancer had a lower WTP for the booster dose against COVID-19 than non-hesitant participants. These results imply that further health education programmes are essential to decrease the hesitancy of patients with cancer and enhance booster dose vaccination rates for public health improvements.KEY MESSAGESOur research showed that 70% of patients with cancer are willing to pay for the booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and most are willing to pay less than 100 CNY, and this result reflects the economic value and affordability of the third dose of vaccination.COVID-19 vaccine-hesitant patients with cancer had a lower willingness to pay for a booster dose against COVID-19 than non-hesitant participants and few patients are still unwilling to pay among patients do not hesitate to receive the third dose. Therefore, promoting willingness to pay among oncology patients and addressing vaccine hesitancy remains key.

Fine motor performance may serve as an early warning sign for reduced cognitive function. Physical activity can help preserve cognitive function; however, the relationship between fine motor performance and physical activity is not well understood. Therefore, this study examined the relationship between fine motor performance and physical activity in individuals at risk for developing cognitive impairment (those with diabetes and/or non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)). ⋯ This study suggests that those with diabetes + NAFLD have lower levels of physical activity and slower fine motor performance. The relationship between physical activity and fine motor performance was only statistically significant in the group of individuals with NAFLD only. Future research needs to explore the mechanisms that impact fine motor performance and physical activity in individuals at risk for mild cognitive impairment. Individuals with diabetes and/or NAFLD should be identified, advised and encouraged to engage in physical activity.Key MessagesThose with NAFLD and T2DM have lower levels of physical activity and slower fine motor performance compared to controls and those with NAFLD only.Future research needs to explore the mechanisms that impact fine motor performance and physical activity in those with T2DM with or without NAFLD.Individuals with impaired fine motor performance should be identified and encouraged to engage in physical activity.

The effect of liposomes bi-functionalized with phosphatidic acid and with a synthetic peptide derived from human apolipoprotein E has been evaluated on the aggregation features of different amyloidogenic proteins: human Amyloid β1-40 (Aβ1-40), transthyretin (TTR) variant S52P, human β2microglobulin (β2m) variants ΔN6 and D76N, Serum Amyloid A (SAA). ⋯ Thus, multifunctional liposomes perform as pharmacological chaperones with anti-amyloidogenic activity, with a promising potential for the treatment of a number of protein-misfolding diseases.Key messageAmyloidosis is a group of diseases, each due to a specific protein misfolding.Anti-amyloidogenic nanoparticles have been gaining the utmost importance as a potential treatment for protein misfolding disorders.Liposomes bi-functionalized with phosphatidic acid and with a synthetic peptide derived from human apolipoprotein E showed anti-amyloidogenic activity.

Ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC) has distinct clinical and molecular features and heterogeneous prognosis. Insights into the somatic genomic abnormalities of OCCC provide the basis for deeper understanding and potential therapeutic avenues. Herein, we performed extensive genomic profiling in Chinese patients to illustrate the mutation landscape and genetic prognostic biomarkers of OCCC. ⋯ We described somatic genomic alterations in Chinese OCCC patients and observed different genomic alterations between stage I and stage II/III/IV tumours. Genetic factors may supplement clinical factors in nomogram modelling for PFS prediction.Key MessagesWe performed extensive genomic profiling in a well-annotated cohort of 61 Chinese ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC) patients.PIK3CA mutations were associated with worse overall survival (OS) in stage I OCCC, and SWI/SNF gene mutations were associated with improved OS in stage II/III/IV disease. We propose an easy-to-use nomogram using clinical factors (tumour stage and residual disease) and genetic alterations (SWI/SNF complex mutations, ATM mutations and chr8q CNAs) to predict the progress-free survival (PFS) of OCCC.

To investigate the prognostic value of N6-methyladenosine (m6A)-, 5-methylcytosine (m5C)-, and N1-methyladenosine (m1A)-related genes in cervical cancer (CESC) and predicting immunotherapy response. ⋯ We identified a prognostic model using m6A/m5C/m1A-related genes in cervical cancer, which can predict survival time and correlate with immune cell infiltration. Additionally, anti-CTLA-4 may be used as an immunotherapeutic agent for cervical cancer.KEY MESSAGESCervical cancer still has a high mortality rate, we aim to establish a strong prognostic index and new treatment goals for improving patient survival. The role of three types of RNA methylation modifications, m6A, m5C, and m1A, in cervical cancer, remains unknown. Therefore, it is essential to explore the potential molecular mechanisms of m6A, m5C, and m1A methylation regulation in cervical cancer. We also screened nine drugs for potential treatment and anti-CTLA-4 may be used as an immunotherapeutic agent for cervical cancer. We verified the expression of three key genes SLC2A1, CUX1, and CA2.
