Although systemic chemotherapy for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has made progress, ensuring long-term survival remains difficult. There are several reports on the usefulness of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in predicting the prognosis of PDAC, but few reports in systemic chemotherapy. We hereby investigated the usefulness of NLR in systemic chemotherapy for PDAC. ⋯ This study suggests that NLR may be a useful marker for predicting the initial treatment response to first-line chemotherapy and the prognosis for patients with advanced PDAC.

This study aimed to explore the value of preoperative total parathyroid volume (TPV) as a marker for predict recurrence of renal secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT). ⋯ According to the data in this study, it can be said that TPV can be used to distinguish recurrence from no-recurrence. Most importantly, TPV can be used to identify SHPT recurrence.

The movement of the barbell has been detected as success factor for the snatch and the clean and jerk events. As the barbell's movement has been shown to be related to the athlete's body movement, we hypothesized that the latter could be a success factor also for the back squat (BS) event. Hence, this study aimed to investigate postural control during the execution of the BS at different load intensities in powerlifters and weightlifters. ⋯ These results suggest that powerlifters and weightlifters adopt different postural control strategies depending on the load intensity when performing the BS. Our findings showed that higher effort could affect postural control during the BS. Thus, postural control could be considered a success factor for the BS.

Current diagnostic methods cannot effectively distinguish between latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) and active tuberculosis (ATB). This study aims to explore novel non-invasive diagnostic biomarkers for LTBI and to elucidate possible molecular mechanisms of LTBI pathogenesis. ⋯ MORN3 and LLGL2 emerged as candidate diagnostic biomarkers for LTBI, following the elucidation of the key immune cell types involved. Our findings will contribute to providing a potential target for early noninvasive diagnosis of LTBI patients.

Circulating cytokine levels not only correlate with the progression of liver disease but also serve as indicators for the infection status of the body. Growing evidence points to the connection between donor cytokines and graft function following transplantation. This study set out to explore the clinical significance of donor cytokines in predicting liver transplantation prognosis. ⋯ Donor IL-10 independently influences recipient survival, with the SA10 score demonstrating comparable and even superior predictive ability compared to existing models.
