A monkeypox (MPOX) outbreak occurred in May 2022. On June 3, 2022, the WHO Blueprint organized a consultation on MPOX research knowledge gaps and priority research questions because the engagement of health care providers (HCPs) in providing accurate information and the public's motivation to adapt protective behaviour were crucial. Thus, we conducted this study to explore the knowledge issues, animal patterns, and interactions of HCPs in the context of MPOX and COVID-19 during the MPOX outbreak. ⋯ The studied HCPs had poorer knowledge about the MPOX virus than they did about the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Training programmes and education courses had an impact on their knowledge.

To evaluate the diagnostic value of the FibroScan-AST (FAST) score, non-alcoholic fatty liver fibrosis score (NFS), FibroScan, and liver fibrosis index (FIB-4) for identifying fibrotic non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) with metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). ⋯ In patients with CHB combined with MAFLD, FAST did not have better accuracy than NFS and FIB-4 for predicting fibrotic NASH, whereas LSM had better accuracy than FAST and FIB-4.

Atherosclerosis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by lipid accumulation, inflammation and apoptosis of the arterial wall. This study evaluated the effects of lysophosphatidylinositol (LPI) on endothelial cells activation and autophagy in AS. ⋯ LPI promoted endothelial cell activation. LPI induced the expression of LINC01235 and LINC01235 inhibited autophagy through miR-224-3p/RABEP1. Collectively, this study first reveals the function of LINC01235, which may serve as a potential therapeutic target in AS.

People with disabilities are at increased risk for severe COVID-19 health outcomes and face barriers accessing COVID-19 vaccines. The aim of this study is to examine receipt of ≥ 1 dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, intention to vaccinate in the future, and reasons for not vaccinating among people with disabilities and functional limitations using a large, nationally representative dataset of adults in the United States. ⋯ Efforts to ensure high and equitable vaccination coverage include working with communities to strengthen the message that the vaccine is safe and effective, educating health professionals about the need to recommend and promote vaccines, and making vaccination sites more accessible for people who need additional accommodations.

Self-assessment (SA) is increasingly recognized not only as an assessment method but also as a vital learning activity that enables learners to identify their strengths and limitations, fostering a crucial skill for lifelong learning. Despite its acknowledged significance, there remains a gap in understanding SA for and as learning, rather than merely of learning. This review, therefore, explores two primary questions: (1) What factors inform the implementation of medical students' SA practices? (2) How does SA practices contribute to various educational outcomes? ⋯ Our review does not focus on SA accuracy or its role as an assessment method; instead it delves into the role of SA as an integral learning practice. We explored its influencing factors and its impact across various outcomes. The findings indicate that for SA to effectively enhance student learning outcomes, it must be implemented with ample support, clear guidelines, and within contexts that encourage feedback and reflection.
