We present the case of a 29-year-old man who had been the victim of a stab wound. The cardiac wound was localized in the left ventricular apex and the posterior side of the left ventricle. When he was brought to the emergency department, he had no significant symptoms related to the cardiac wound regardless of ECG changes in the V(2)-V(4) precordial derivation. The aim of this case report is to demonstrate the importance of an accurate preoperative diagnosis and urgent surgical intervention to ensure a good outcome in this type of rare case.

The influence of prosthesis-patient mismatch on long-term results after aortic valve replacement remains controversial. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of prosthesis-patient mismatch on survival and the extent of left ventricular mass regression after aortic valve replacement for aortic stenosis. ⋯ This study showed no negative effects of prosthesis-patient mismatch on survival at 10 years after aortic valve replacement for aortic stenosis. However, the extent of left ventricular mass regression was significantly lower in patients with mismatch.

The approach of repairing tricuspid valve insufficiency caused by congenital lack of chordae or traumatic rupture of chordae is often complicated and difficult. We try to present an alternative method and midterm results. ⋯ The procedure provided a simple and valuable option for repair of flail leaflet of tricuspid valve caused by congenital lack of chordae or traumatic rupture of chordae.
