We analyzed our early and midterm results with aortic valve reimplantation surgery to determine the influence of Marfan syndrome and bicuspid valves on outcomes with this technique. ⋯ The reimplantation technique for aortic root aneurysms is associated with excellent clinical and functional outcomes at short and mid-term follow-up.

Concomitant endovascular stent grafting of the descending thoracic aorta during open repair for acute DeBakey I aortic dissection can be performed in patients with extensive dissection and malperfusion. We analyzed the effects of this strategy on distal aortic remodeling. ⋯ Antegrade TEVAR during open repair for DeBakey I dissection improves DTA remodeling by increasing true lumen diameter without enlargement of the total aortic diameter and by promoting false lumen thrombosis.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) and its severity after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) have been associated with worse outcomes. Studies have shown that AKI duration (transient or persistent) affects outcomes independently of AKI severity. This study was undertaken to determine the association, risk factors, and outcomes associated with persistent AKI (pAKI) after TAVR. ⋯ pAKI was significantly associated with higher mortality risk following TAVR. Baseline eGFR, diabetes mellitus, previous PCI, IABP, and blood transfusion were risk factors for post-procedural pAKI.

This study aims to assess the clinical efficiency and safety of simultaneous transcatheter interventional treatment for perimembranous ventricular septal defect (pmVSD) combined with patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). ⋯ Simultaneously transcatheter interventional therapy is a safe and effective method for pmVSD combined with PDA.

The purpose of this study was to determine risk predictors for recurrent tricuspid regurgitation (TR) following tricuspid valve annuloplasty during mitral valve surgery. ⋯ A durable mitral valve repair and preservation of sinus rhythm are the keys to preventing late TR progression.
