Effect of nicardipine on renal function after robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy.
To investigate the renoprotective effect of nicardipine in patients undergoing robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALRP) in a prospective trial. Superior visualization of the increasingly performed RALRP requires pneumoperitoneum and extreme head-down tilt, both of which are associated with a decrease in postoperative renal function. Nicardipine causes preferential dilation of the renal arterioles and attenuates renal dysfunction after cardiac surgery. ⋯ Continuous infusion of low-dose nicardipine during RALRP seems to offset the deleterious effects of inevitable pneumoperitoneum and extreme head-down tilt on renal function in preserving the eGFR and attenuating the development of renal insufficiency in the immediate postoperative period.

Electroacupuncture relieves pain in men with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome: three-arm randomized trial.
To investigate the clinical effect of electroacupuncture (EA) for chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). ⋯ In a 3-arm randomized trial investigating the clinical effects of EA on CP/CPPS, EA therapy proved to have independent therapeutic effects, particularly for pain relief superior to SEA or A&E therapy.

Laparoscopic radical versus partial nephrectomy for tumors >4 cm: intermediate-term oncologic and functional outcomes.
To compare the oncologic and functional outcomes of laparoscopic radical nephrectomy (LRN) and laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) for clinical Stage T1b-T3 renal cell carcinoma >4 cm in size. ⋯ Our intermediate-term data have indicated that in appropriate patients with Stage T1b-T3 tumors >4 cm, LPN provides equivalent oncologic efficacy and superior renal functional outcomes compared with LRN. Future studies are required to confirm these trends.

Magnetic resonance imaging is a complementary method to stereological measurement of testicular volume.
The objective of our research was to determine the accuracy and precision of the Cavalieri principle with images obtained from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in estimation of the actual testicular volume in humans. ⋯ The results of this study demonstrate that testicular volume measurements with the Cavalieri principle using images obtained from MRI may be considered a complementary method to traditional techniques to estimate the actual testicular volume.
