Examining Trends in Underrepresented Minorities in Urology Residency.
To examine trends in underrepresented minority (URM) representation in urology residency. Comparison is made between URM representation in urology residency and URM representation in other surgical fields as well as all medical fields. We hypothesized that percentage of URM in urology has been limited when compared to both surgical fields and all other fields. ⋯ The findings demonstrate that URM representation in urology trainees lags behind other fields. Recruitment and selection policies which take into account diversity are needed to improve inclusion of URM into the urologic pipeline and workforce.

Comparison of Voiding Dysfunction Phenotypes in Women with Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain and Myofascial Pelvic Pain: Results from the ICEPAC Trial.
To evaluate whether voiding parameters differ in patients with the common overlapping pelvic pain disorders, interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS), and myofascial pelvic pain (MPP). ⋯ This quantitative evaluation of voiding diary and uroflow metrics reveals distinct voiding phenotypes, which can aid in the diagnosis of chronic pelvic pain syndromes. Patients with IC/BPS had more pain with a full bladder despite similar overall pain scores. Peak and average flow rates do not provide any differentiating power between IC/BPS and MPP patients. A longer time to peak flow may favor MPP though this finding needs confirmation.

To assess the accuracy of Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System version 2 (PI-RADS v2) in detecting clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) on multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) using whole-mount sections after radical prostatectomy (RP) as reference standard. ⋯ In our prospective study with pathology after RP as standard of reference, PI-RADS v2 showed good sensitivity in detecting csPCa on mpMRI with substantial agreement between 2 experienced readers. Threshold score ≥4 had lower FDR.

Twitter Mentions and Academic Citations in the Urologic Literature.
To quantify the relationship between the number of Twitter mentions and the number of academic citations a urologic publication receives. ⋯ The majority of urologic publications are being shared on Twitter. The number of citations a urologic publication receives up to 3 years after release is positively associated with the number of mentions it has on Twitter. Twitter activity may be an early indicator of ultimate academic impact of an academic urologic paper.

To examine trends in the financial relationship between biomedical companies and leaders in urologic education during the first 3 full calendar years since implementation of the Sunshine Act. ⋯ The Sunshine Act was passed in part to promote transparency of the physician-industry relationship. Though the proportion of urologic leaders accepting payments between 2014 and 2016 did not change significantly, increased public scrutiny could have contributed to the decrease in yearly general payments and the increase in yearly research payments.
