Paracolic recurrence of testicular germ cell tumors is rare and is usually related to incomplete excision of the ipsilateral spermatic cord. We describe a paracolic recurrence outside of the standard radiation field of a low-stage pure seminoma that was managed by chemotherapy and surgical excision, rendering the patient disease free with short-term follow-up.

To determine in a pilot study whether acupuncture improved pain, voiding symptoms, and the quality of life of men with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome. ⋯ Acupuncture appears to be a safe, effective, and durable treatment in improving symptoms in, and the quality of life of, men with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome refractory to treatment. A larger controlled study is required to confirm these encouraging initial results.

Long-term 6-year experience with finasteride in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia.
To summarize the 6-year clinical trial data with finasteride. Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a chronic and progressive disease and therefore assessment of long-term safety and efficacy is important. ⋯ Treatment with finasteride leads to durable improvement in urinary tract symptoms, flow rate, and prostate volume, with no increase in the prevalence of drug-related adverse events over time.

We report the case of an 18-month-old boy with a congenital anterior urethral diverticulum containing an elliptical stone at the penoscrotal junction, with urinary retention and extravasation of urine. Initial management consisted of an open suprapubic cystostomy. Three weeks after resolution of extravasation, diverticulectomy with removal of the stone by urethroplasty was done after ruling out associated obstructing anterior urethral valves.
