ReviewUnintentional childhood poisoning, epidemiology and strategies for the prevention and policy change in Pakistan.
Poisoning is the fifth leading cause of unintentional injuries among young children. Agents most commonly ingested by young children include medicines, cleaning substances, hydrocarbons, pesticides and cosmetics. ⋯ Knowledge of parents and caregivers about prevention of poisoning may be the basis to prevent subsequent injuries. This paper is a review of the epidemiology of unintentional poisonings among young children (less than five years) and its risk factors especially in the context of Pakistan.

Low back pain with or without lower extremity pain is the most common problem among chronic pain disorders with significant economic, social, and health impact. This study was conducted to determine the frequency of lumbar disc herniation and its different levels, among patients with chronic backache. ⋯ Patients with chronic backache can have inter-vertebral lumbar disc prolapsed disease. Middle age group are more affected by lumbar disc disease especially at the lower lumbar regions.

Case ReportsPulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM): rare cause of hemoptysis.
Pulmonary arterio-venous malformation is an abnormal communication between pulmonary arteries and pulmonary veins. These lesions are rare and are an important part of the differential diagnosis of common pulmonary problems such as hypoxemia and pulmonary nodules. ⋯ Pulmonary angiography revealed fistulous communication between right bronchial artery and right pulmonary vein. He was treated by lobectomy.
