The purpose of this study is to determine the clinical implication of small (<20 mm) enhancing hepatic nodules observed only at three-dimensional gadobenate dimeglumine-enhanced hepatic arterial-phase magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the hepatitis B virus-induced mild cirrhosis. ⋯ Small arterial-only enhancing nodules occult on the portal- and equilibrium-phase images as well as on the T1- and T2-weighted images are more likely to be HCC than nonneoplastic hypervascular benign lesions in patients with hepatitis B-induced mild cirrhosis.

Traumatic pulmonary pathology measured with computed tomography and a semiautomated analytic method.
The goal of this study is to develop a controlled approach to quantifying the amount of lung damage after blunt chest trauma. The presented method is used to analyze computed tomography scans and to assess patients' risk for developing acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). When used to predict which patients were at risk for ARDS, the method presented in this study had a sensitivity of 57% and a specificity of 100%.

Alström syndrome is among the rarest genetic disorders described in the medical literature. It is characterized by retinal pigment degeneration, obesity, sensorineural deafness, non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, progressive chronic nephropathy, cardiomyopathy, and hepatic dysfunction. Hepatic inflammation and fibrosis, which leads to cirrhosis, portal hypertension, and liver failure, is the final pathway of the hepatopathy in Alström syndrome. We report a case of Alström syndrome with particular emphasis on hepatic findings.

Comparative Study
Evaluation of acute renal artery thrombosis or embolism with color Doppler sonography.
This study aimed to evaluate the value of color Doppler sonography (CDS) in the diagnosis of acute renal artery thrombosis or embolism (ARATE). ⋯ CDS is a useful imaging tool in the diagnosis of large renal infarcts caused by thrombosis or embolism in the main renal artery. However, small infarcts, which need other imaging modalities for further evaluation and confirmation, may be neglected by CDS.

Our intent was to clarify the usefulness of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and perfusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (PW-MRI) in the grading of glioma. ⋯ MRS may provide valuable information for glioma grading.
