Cutaneous Tuberculosis and Nontuberculous Mycobacterial Infections at a National Specialized Hospital in China.
To identify the microorganism distribution clinical characteristics and management of cutaneous Mycobacterium tuberculosis and nontuberculous mycobacterial infectious diseases in the past 10 years we collected and analyzed the patient records of all cutaneous M. tuberculosis and nontuberculous mycobacterial infection cases diagnosed by culture and/or PCR from 2008 to 2017 in the Hospital of Dermatology Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Among 203 cases including 89 M. tuberculosis infections and 114 nontuberculous mycobacterial infections M. tuberculosis was the most common species in all patients and M. marinum predominated among the nontuberculous mycobacterial followed by M. abscessus. ⋯ Injuries were common causative factors. Approximately 91.3% of patients responded well to longstanding antibiotic therapy.

Review Case ReportsDrug-induced Linear IgA Bullous Dermatosis: A Case Report and Review of the Literature.
Linear IgA bullous dermatosis (LABD) is a rare subepidermal autoimmune blistering disease characterized by linear deposition of IgA along the basement membrane zone. Although most reported cases are idiopathic, there is a subset of patients with drug-induced LABD. ⋯ In addition, a case report of a 77-year-old male patient with linear IgA dermatosis induced by vancomycin is described. The aim of this paper is to emphasize the need to include this differential diagnosis in cases of suspected adverse drug reactions, as well as to highlight the role of drugs in LABD.

ReviewNail Psoriasis: An Updated Review and Expert Opinion on Available Treatments, Including Biologics.
Nail psoriasis affects 50-79% of patients with skin psoriasis and up to 80% of patients with psoriatic arthritis, and can also represent a negative prognostic factor in individuals with plaque psoriasis. Treatments for nail psoriasis are limited, as nails are often difficult to treat with topical therapies alone, and relapse is common. ⋯ In this setting, secukinumab is characterized by the highest efficacy at week 16. This review analysed the different therapeutic options for nail psoriasis, focusing on new treatments that have shown promising results in this field.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyMortality of Haemodialysis Patients With and Without Chronic Itch: A Follow-up Study of the German Epidemiological Hemodialysis Itch Study (GEHIS).
The GEHIS (German Epidemiological Hemodialysis Itch Study) is a representative cohort study started in 2013 with 860 haemodialysis (HD) patients in 25 German dialysis units. Chronic itch (CI) has been reported to be a poor prognostic marker for patients on HD; however, this has not been investigated in a representative patient cohort. In 2017, all HD patients were contacted again to investigate mortality in those with and without CI and to identify its determinants. ⋯ Mortality was significantly higher in those with secondary scratch lesions compared with those with non-affected skin. This was also true after controlling for age and sex in a multivariate model. This study demonstrates a high mortality in HD patients; however, mortality depends on itch intensity, not on the occurrence of CI itself.

Antipruritic Effects of Janus Kinase Inhibitor Tofacitinib in a Mouse Model of Psoriasis.
The Janus kinase 1/3 inhibitor tofacitinib has demonstrated an antipruritic effect in two phase III studies in psoriasis. However, the mechanisms behind this antipruritic effect are still unknown. We presently investigated whether tofacitinib affects spontaneous itch as well as expression of itch-related cytokines and epidermal nerve fiber density (ENFD) in the imiquimod-induced mouse model of psoriasis. ⋯ Imiquimod treatment significantly increased mRNA expression of Il22, Il23, and Il31, reduced peptidergic ENFD, and increased nonpeptidergic ENFD compared to naive mice. Tofacitinib significantly decreased the expression of those cytokines and increased peptidergic ENFD without a significant effect on nonpeptidergic ENFD. Tofacitinib may inhibit psoriatic itch through inhibition of cytokine expression as well as modulation of epidermal innervation.
