Multicenter Study Observational StudyEffect of ICD Therapies on Mortality in the OMNI Trial.
Analyses from primary prevention trials on implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) therapy have shown an association between shocks and increased mortality. Recent data suggest a similar association with antitachycardia pacing (ATP). ⋯ Patients receiving appropriate therapy of all types had increased mortality compared to those with no episodes. Furthermore, inappropriate ATP rarely precipitates ventricular arrhythmias.

Comparative Study Observational StudyApixaban, Rivaroxaban, and Dabigatran in Patients Undergoing Atrial Fibrillation Ablation.
Data on the novel oral anticoagulants (NOACS) during catheter ablation (CA) of atrial fibrillation (AF) are still limited. This study evaluated the periprocedural major complications (MC) of CA of AF, and compared Apixaban, Dabigatran, and Rivaroxaban with continuous phenoprocoumon. ⋯ The major complication rate between all three NOACs currently available and continuous phenprocoumon during AF ablation seem to be comparable. Complication rates were similar between patients treated with the three different available NOACs.

The Use of Noninvasive Vagal Nerve Stimulation to Inhibit Sympathetically Induced Sinus Node Acceleration: A Potential Therapeutic Approach for Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia.
Hyperactivity of the cardiac sympathetic nervous system may underlie the pathogenesis of inappropriate sinus tachycardia (IST). Studies have proven that cervical vagal stimulation could inhibit stellate ganglion neural activity. ⋯ Noninvasive vagal nerve stimulation may suppress RSG activity possibly by modulating SK2, c-fos, and NGF expressions in RSG, thus inhibiting sympathetically induced sinus node acceleration.
